Implementing the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System
On 27–28 of April 2017, the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and the Public Health Agency of Sweden hosted the 2nd High Level Technical Meeting on surveillance of antimicrobial resistance for local and global action, co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The purpose of the meeting was to move forward in the implementation process of the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (GLASS) launched by WHO in March 2016. The meeting focused on strategies to coordinate and further improve global collaboration to meet the needs of Member States in the implementation of GLASS, as well as to promote engagement from all sectors in the development of the system. The meeting built on experiences gained since the first meeting on surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in Stockholm in December 2014, and covered both policy and technical aspects of GLASS. The meeting report is available at the WHO website.
Further information on the early implementation phase of GLASS is available on the WHO website.
