The Baltic Antibiotic Resistance collaborative Network
The Baltic Antibiotic Resistance collaborative Network, BARN, is a platform for professionals in the Baltic Sea region and Eastern Europe working with antibiotic resistance and infection prevention and control. The goal is to facilitate interaction and co-operation aiming to counteract the negative effects of antibiotic resistance.
BARN is an evolving network. It has changed several times since it started, and has recently entered a new and exciting phase. After having received funds from the Swedish Institute, the network is now financially supported solely by the Public Health Agency of Sweden. What this new phase will contain will be defined by the members, the one thing that has stayed constant over the years. BARN´s predecessor, BALTICCARE, was launched in 2004. Many of those involved at the time are still active within BARN today; this gives the network a strong continuity and the members both professional and social exchange.
