The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is inviting applications for the position of medical doctor specialised in public health, to support the EFSA’s Scientific Expert Services. The post being advertised will involve:

• Monitoring and reporting zoonoses, zoonotic agents and antimicrobial resistance;
• Collecting data and reporting on foodborne outbreaks;
• Assisting the EFSA’s Scientific Committee and Panels on epidemiological issues;
• Risk assessment and statistical analysis of epidemiological data.

Candidates must be nationals of European Union member states, with degrees in both medicine and public health, and at least nine years of relevant post-university professional experience. They must be fluent in one of the EFSA working languages (English, Italian, French and German) and have a good knowledge of two others, including English. The position is based at the EFSA in Parma, Italy.

The deadline for applications is 8 November 2005, but candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
