Antibiotic rounds as a tool for antimicrobial stewardship
The Public Health Agency of Sweden has together with Latvian colleagues put together an education package on Antibiotic Rounds within the scope of the LATOHOP project. It includes an online education module and workshops held by an infection control specialist.
The antibiotic round is a way to effectively use the knowledge of the infectious disease (or other relevant) specialist (or other relevant clinical specialist) to audit and assess the treatment with antibiotics and promote rational use of antibiotics. It is also a good opportunity to educate the doctors and other medical staff in the visited wards about AMS and AMR.
