Doping

According to national representative surveys which have been conducted in Sweden, approximately one percent of men and less than 0.5 percent of women have tried anabolic-androgenic steroids at some point.

The typical user is a male between 18 and 34 years who exercises regularly at the gym. Doping substances are used throughout the country, but are more common in big cities than in rural areas.

Our mission

The Public Health Agency of Sweden is responsible for:

  • building and conveying knowledge within the doping area to relevant stakeholders
  • promoting coordination of the work within the doping area at the national level, and for monitoring.

We also provide financial support to various projects aiming to build and disseminate knowledge of preventative work within the alcohol, narcotics, doping and tobacco areas.
