Reporting of ingredients, emissions and toxicological data

In order to provide tobacco products to consumers on the Swedish market, manufacturers and importers must report to us information about ingredients, emissions and toxicological information. Some information must also be provided annually, such as sales volume. We charge fees for the information you report to us. Here you can read about the rules for this.

Reporting of ingredients for tobacco products

Manufacturers or importers of tobacco products must report information about the ingredients and quantities thereof in tobacco products.

Annual reporting of tobacco products

In addition to reporting of ingredients and emissions, manufacturers or importers of tobacco products must report certain information annually, e.g. information on sales volumes and available studies on market research.

Enhanced reporting obligations for cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco

Manufacturers and importers of cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco containing certain additives must carry out comprehensive studies of the cigarettes or roll-your-own tobacco and report to us.

Maximum emission levels ​​from cigarettes

Manufactures or importers must submit information on emissions of tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide from cigarettes. There are maximum emission levels.

Prohibited additives in tobacco products (does not apply to tobacco for oral use)

Some additives are prohibited in tobacco products. This regulation does not apply to tobacco for oral use (snus). In addition to these rules, there are additional rules for additives in cigarette components.

Novel tobacco products must be notified to us before they can be placed on the Swedish market.
