Traceability labelling and security features
Packets of cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco must carry a traceability marking and a security feature. This will also be applicable for other tobacco products produced in the Union or imported to the Union from May 20th 2024.
Minor linguistic corrections and clarifications, update of information on transitional rules and clarifications on what applies if the rules are not followed.
Packets without these markings may not be sold. The purpose of the traceability marking is to be able to trace the tobacco product from the factory to the retail outlet and the purpose of the security feature is to enable verification of whether a tobacco product is genuine or not.
