The Nordic One Health cooperation on antimicrobial resistance

The Nordic One Health cooperation on antimicrobial resistance is a programme financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The purpose of the program is to enable the implementation of the Nordic One Health AMR Ministerial Declaration, adopted in 2024. The work is supported by a secretariate hosted by the Public Health Agency of Sweden.

Strengthened cooperation on AMR in the Nordic region

The programme is an initiative to strengthen the collaboration within the Nordic region. It consists of a network with members from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. There is also a Programme Committee supporting the work, with the task to approve an implementation plan for the declaration as well as funding for projects within the objectives of the programme and the ministerial declaration.

About the network

The tasks and objectives of the Nordic One Health AMR Network includes:

  • exchange experiences and best practices on implementation of National Action Plans on AMR;
  • share scientific, practical, and behavioural knowledge and understanding of AMR;
  • develop proposals for joint efforts on AMR in the Nordic countries;
  • support Nordic coordination of AMR work within the EU, WHO, FAO, WOAH, UNEP, and other relevant forums;
  • support any specific actions in the field of AMR agreed upon by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
