EURL-PH-HP Training 2026
This in-person training in clinical parasitology diagnostics is organized at the Public Health Agency of Sweden under the scope of the EU Reference Laboratory for Public Health on Food-, Water-, and Vector-bone Helminths and Protozoa (EURL-PH-HP).
This training aims to enhance the expertise of the members of the ECDC laboratory disease networks “European Food- and Waterborne Diseases and Zoonoses Network” (FWD-Net) and “European Emerging and Vector-borne Diseases Network” (EVD-Net) in the detection and characterization of parasites of public health relevance in the EU. The format is three full days, in-person at PHAS premises in Solna, Sweden with a maximum of 20 participants. Travel and accommodation will be covered by the EURL
Content
The course will cover both theoretical and practical aspects focusing on Plasmodium, Toxoplasma, Echinococcus and Trichinella as well as other parasites of public health relevance in the EU.
From the Program
The program will include:
- Theoretical training on clinical parasitology
- Microscopic identification of selected helminths and protozoa
- Case studies with participant discussions highlighting the application of appropriate diagnostic techniques
- Epidemiological aspects and surveillance
- Outbreak management exercise
Target Audience
The target audience are disease network members from reference laboratories with background and interest in clinical parasitology diagnostics or surveillance.
