Kunskapsunderlag innehåller rekommendationer, referensmetodik och bakgrundsdokumentation angående diagnostik, screening, epidemiologisk typning, smittspårning och förebyggande av smittspridning då det gäller vankomycinresistenta enterokocker (VRE).

Utbrottet av vankomycinresistenta enterokocker i Gävleborg bedöms avslutat från december 2014.

Kliniskt Mikrobiologiskt Laboratorium (KML) i Gävle upptäckte genom noggrant arbete att ett urinprov innehöll en låg mängd av misstänkta vankomycinresistenta enterokocker.
